Resectr™ Tissue Resection Device
A minimally invasive treatment option for polyp removal without incisions, hormones or implants. Resectr can be used in the hospital, surgery center or in our office.
Tissue resection removes unwanted tissue, such as polyps, also known as a polypectomy. It is a same-day procedure that requires no incisions and recovery is just a few days.
Resectr is a safe, simple and effective treatment to view and remove polyps which are common causes of Abnormal Uterine Bleeding (AUB).
How does Resectr™ work?
COPY STEPS AND DESCRIPTIONS FROM SYMPHION
Your doctor carefully inserts a thin, lighted hysteroscope into your vagina, through your cervix, and into your uterine cavity to see inside. Roomtemperature saline flows through the hysteroscope to help your doctor clearly see any unwanted tissue to be removed. |
A slender tissue removal device is passed through the hysteroscope so that your doctor can remove polyps. |
When the procedure is complete, both the hysteroscope and the tissue removal device will be gently removed from your body. |
After treatment
While complications of a polypectomy are rare, some women may experience cramping, mild pain or nausea following the treatment. Other more serious risks such as bleeding, infection and surgical complications are also possible. It is important to discuss these issues with your doctor.
Your doctor may administer or prescribe medication to provide temporary relief. Often, abdominal cramping and pain can be managed with over-the-counter (nonprescription) pain medication that your doctor may recommend.
If your pain or bleeding increases, changes to a greenish or foul-smelling vaginal discharge or you have a fever greater than 100.4°F, contact your doctor.
Am I a good candidate?
Resectr can remove polyps. These are types of unwanted tissue that may grow in the uterine cavity or cervix. We may do some preliminary tests, such as a pelvic exam and/or ultrasound, to determine what is causing your Abnormal Uterine Bleeding.
