After treatment

While complications of hysteroscopic myomectomy are rare, some women may experience cramping, mild pain or nausea following the treatment. Other more serious risks such as bleeding, infection and surgical complications are also possible. It is important to discuss these issues with your doctor.

Your doctor may administer or prescribe medication to provide temporary relief. Often, abdominal cramping and pain can be managed with over-the-counter (nonprescription) pain medication that your doctor may recommend.

If your pain or bleeding increases, changes to a greenish or foul-smelling vaginal discharge or you have a fever greater than 100.4°F, contact your doctor.

Am I a good candidate?

Symphion® can remove submucosal fibroids and polyps. These are types of unwanted tissue that may protrude into the uterine cavity. We may do some preliminary tests, such as a pelvic exam and/or ultrasound, to determine what is causing your Abnormal Uterine Bleeding.

Together we will decide if this is the right treatment for you.

The Symphion® System is intended to distend the uterus by filling it with saline to facilitate viewing with a hysteroscope during diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy and provide fluid management through the closed loop recirculation of filtered distension fluid. It is also intended for resection and coagulation of uterine tissue such as intrauterine polyps and myomas using a bipolar resecting device.

CAUTION: Federal law (USA) restricts this device to sale by or on the order of a physician. Rx only. The physician using the system must have sufficient and adequate experience in performing procedures in the uterine cavity.
